Transport Services embarks on a significant milestone as we celebrate 50 years in 2026. On March 24, 1976, Albert Therrien founded a semi-trailer dealership in Cleveland, Ohio with one trailer. 50 years later, the company has over 100 employees, three full-service branches and thousands of trailers across the U.S.
The company’s journey reflects the hard work and passion that Albert poured into the mission and employees from day one. Transport Services is family-owned, and its culture has grown into a family of its own.
Finding Footing in Ohio
As the company began to gain traction, it underwent several growing pains as business increased. The first official location opened in Strongsville, Ohio, in 1980, operating out of a single room rented above an attorney’s office. It wasn’t long before demand continued to grow, and more space was needed.
In 1982, the company moved to Brook Park, Ohio, where its facilities expanded to include a two-bay garage and the launch of a new parts division. Transport Services began representing new trailer manufacturers and tapping into additional markets through parts wholesale.
As demand continued to increase, the need for more space prompted a third move in 1985 to Brunswick, Ohio. Here, the company advanced into a facility with three service bays to support growing parts operations. Transport Services now offered four areas of service for semi-trailers: service (repairs), parts, sales and leasing/rental. That momentum soon carried operations to an even larger scale.
Laying Roots in North Royalton
In 1990, accelerating demand and their desire to expand the trailer rental fleet and used inventory triggered another move—this time to North Royalton, Ohio. This move marked a turning point, as the company planted permanent roots in the community.
After years of searching for a location with enough land to accommodate both the company’s current and future needs, Transport Services purchased 16 acres of land and built what is now the company’s Corporate Headquarters.
The new 10,500-sq-ft building included spacious offices, a display area and a four-bay service shop. In addition to constructing the facility, the land was graded and surfaced with asphalt and 9,000 tons of stone, equipped with a drainage system.
Building a Leading Business in The Transportation Industry
As of 2026, the Corporate Headquarters stands behind a total of six expansion projects. The building now features 22 service bays, a 10,000+ sq-ft parts warehouse, offices and lobbies for all four divisions, situated on more than 40 acres of land.
With the expanded facilities in place, the next step was to build a team of dedicated leaders. Our team composed of passionate professionals across all divisions and branches who consistently bring their dedication and expertise to serving customers. Albert's passion from 1976 continues to drive the company, sharing both the grit and beauty of the transportation industry over the past 50 years.
